Belly dance is a Western-coined name for a traditional Middle Eastern dance. It is sometimes also called Middle Eastern dance or Arabic dance in the West. The term "Belly dance" is a translation of the French "danse du ventre" which was applied to the dance in the Victorian era. It is something of a misnomer as every part of the body is involved in the dance; the most featured body part usually is the hips. Belly dance takes many different forms depending on country and region, both in costume and dance style, and new styles have evolved in the West as its popularity has spread globally. Although contemporary forms of the dance have generally been performed by women, some of the dances, particularly the cane dance, have origins in male forms of performance.

Salsa movements originate from the Cuban Son dancing of the 1920s, more specifically through the beat of Son Montuno with strong influences from the dance of Danzon, Mambo, Guaguanco, and other Afro-Cuban folkloric dancing. Today's salsa dancing is a rich blend of Latin-American and Western influences; some other dance styles that have influenced today's salsa include Western and Ballroom dancing. Salsa traces a 90 year history in which there are a multiple evolutionary paths, sometimes split due to political and social influences. As result, today, there are three major salsa styles, namely Cuban Salsa ("Casino"), New York Style ("Mambo on 2"), and Los Angeles Style ("On 1"). Other Salsa branches include Colombian Salsa ("Cali-Style") and Miami-Style Salsa.
Salsa is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms, pole dancing (suelta), and Rueda de Casino where groups of couples exchange partners in a circle. Salsa can be improvised or performed with a set routine, choreography, and freestyle.

Bollywood dance

Bollywood dance is only found in Indian Hindi movies which is very popular in India and all over the world now a days.In past days it was very simple and mostly classical type of dance was it but now a days it is westernized and become more beautiful than past.It is different type of dance it needs colourfull clothes and customs which means alot to it. Some time there are items dances in the movies which performed by only a girl called "item girl". There is no limit of memebers in it, it can be performed by one person or in group.

Bollywood dance has always been interesting for me because it brings together several dance styles still showing the culture of the country in a great manner. The other thing which makes it more fascinating is choreography. And even more attractive element of it is its costume. Clothing and costume are an extremely important element of bollywood dance. To a large extent it shows the "feel" of dance. The costumes for bollywood dance are always chosen according to the feel of the particular period and dance scene. The themes and backgrounds for bollywood dance also make it appealing. For all these reasons I find the Bollywood dance beautiful and elegant.

The presentation of Indian dance styles in film, Bollywood, has exposed the range of dance in India to a global audience. In early times, bollywood dance included generally the classical dance styles whereas modern films fuse this old classical style with western dance styles. Bollywood dance has become a part of the world markets and it has increased its audience worldwide.

Bhangra

Bhangra is the dance of Punjab region of India. It reflects the history of Punjab. Bhangra began as a part of harvest festival celebration. Bhangra is also performed on all the occasions such as parties, weddings etc. It shows the colorful culture of Punjab. The music for Punjabi Bhangra is Punjabi boliyan lyrics. Musical instruments for Bhangra are dhol drum which is played during Bhangra at least by one person. Other persons can play flute, dholak drum or other musical instruments. It is a group dance.

This is one of my favourite dance from my culture. I love to see people doing Bhangra and I myself love to perform it. I like the colorful outfits which the persons wear when they perform it.When i perform bhangra dance i feel totally lost in it.The instruments which the use while dancing make the dance more enjoyable. This is not a soft dance it needs alltos of energy to perform.Now a days, it is getting modernized and it is becoming more and more popular. I enjoy it more when it is performed on folk music.

Ballroom Dance

The show "Dancing with the Stars" has made ballroom dancing even more widely recognized then it already was. Ballroom comes from the latin word "ballare" which means to dance. In the olden days, it was a dance that was only done by high class people, and lower class people were not allowed to participate. Types of ballroom include tango, waltz, samba or the jive.

"Dancing with the Stars" is an interesting show to watch because it features well known celebrities doing something that they do not regularly do. Burlesque focuses on females and is usually sexually suggestive. It can be seen in musicals such as "Moulin Rouge" or "Chicago". There is even a movie that is set to be released this month that is actually titled "Berlesque", starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. I have posted the trailer for this movie below.

Ballet is a very difficult type of dance that requires a lot of flexibility and concentration. It is typically performed to classical music or instrumental music. The word "ballet" comes from the italian word "balletto" which means "to dance". The National Ballet of Canada is recognized as one of the worlds best dance companies around the globe. The perform pieces such as "The Nutcracker" and "Cinderella".

hip hop

Hip hop dance first developed in 1970 by black and Latin Americans.It's style is breaking, locking, and popping. Three elements free styling, battles and ciphers are it's key components.Disco dance influenced it and it became very popular in all over the world.

Hip hop is one of my favourite dances. Mostly in my leisure time i prefer to dance or watch the dance videos . When ever i see some one dancing in Hip hop style i feel like crazy and want to dance with them. Even in parties when loud music played i feel my self uncontrolled to dance .

I prefer group dance more than single mostly in hip hop style dance.This dance is not only a source of entertainment but fitness also. It looks better when a dancer wear thuggish clothes because it suits its style and i like its baggie dress style.
